The Redwoods, Beech Forest

As our stay in the Great Otway National Park came to an end, we thought we'd complete it with a walk amongst the colossal redwood trees. The Californian Redwood Forest is a picnic area located on Binns Road near Hopetoun Falls, which is about 20 mins from Apollo Bay (Quicker if you have a 4WD).

The Trees are a sight to behold and make you feel so inferior with their mammoth height. We spent a good half an hour marvelling at these giants of the forest, it gives you a sense of calmness and bewilderment, almost like you are in the setting of The Lord of The Rings.

I highly recommend this spot, it will be a great experience for kids and also a great opportunity for some breathtaking photography.

If you want to see a waterfall, you can visit Hopetoun Falls too, which is about 5 mins down Binns Road (towards Beech Forest). Beauchamp Falls will take a bit longer if you are driving a 2WD as the road is a gravel road.
