As I was waiting to be served at the Red Cross store, located on the corner of Brighton Parade and Shepherd's Hill Road, I overheard a customer describe it as 'one of the gems of Blackwood'. Three people at the counter, including myself, readily agreed.
The store used to be a home, and still retains it's cosy charm today. Most of the store consists of quality second hand clothes, and they often have a small selection of brand new items courtesy of overstock or seconds from Sass and Bide and Country Road.
In other rooms there is giftware, knick-knacks, books, games, furniture, men's clothing, shoes and handbags, as well as trinkets and jewellery dotted strategically about the store.
The friendly Red Cross staff volunteer their time, and do so because the money from every item bought goes to helping people by providing vital services to the most vulnerable people in our local community and abroad.
So, if you love hunting for that perfect (and pleasantly affordable) item, reducing waste by buying pre-loved items, and helping those in need, then stop by and spend a leisurely morning discovering the Red Cross store at Blackwood. I doubt you will be disappointed.
Why? The Red Cross Family Store at Blackwood has lots of quality pre-loved clothes and items. Donating to, and buying from them enables the Red Cross to help vulnerable people in Australia and overseas
