The Raven's Parlour in Tanunda is a bookstore that has it all. A huge selection of really great books. Beautiful displays, easygoing, knowledgable and friendly staff. A great position, next to the Tanunda library and visitor's information centre, as well as being adjacent to some of the region's best coffee, food and shopping.
The fabulous staff really know their stuff! All avid readers, they know that getting a good book for someone else requires considered thought. I asked for ideas for my 'truly difficult to buy for' friend and they nailed it! The first suggestion was for a book he and I both own, but they had another, newer title by the same author which I had not seen anywhere else. Not only that, but they had several glorious books just perfect for other people on my list. Christmas, virtually sorted, on a visit to one small store! This is exactly how The Ravens Parlour differs to other book sellers. They specialise in smaller runs of interesting and beautiful books, for real book lovers.
Of course, they sell best sellers too, but not to the detriment of independent publishing houses. There is no massive stack of cheaply made books here. Everything is curated. The staff review the books they sell and copies of their reviews are available, along with The Independent Booksellers seasonal reading guide, to every customer.
This store is all about the treasure to be found inside special books. The very best version of that book you want is here. Hence the special perfume only the best bookstores have. This is the store to visit for a book to treasure. To put an Ex Libris sticker in, and read again and again.
