Do you love looking at the stars and the moon on a quiet night with clear sky? Do you wonder what could be out there in space above and beyond? Are your kids fascinated by aeroplanes and rockets? Do they ask questions about flying and defying gravity? Wonder where could be a great interactive and amazing place to find all the answers and ask further questions? Time to go to Questacon!
The Questacon Science and Technology Centre in Canberra is a much loved place for science lovers whether old or young. There is a science exhibition running in Questacon for 4 months designed in collaboration with NASA and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
This visit to Questacon can be made interactive right from the start. Ask questions from each other and from kids at home about speed of light and sound. Discuss means of transportation on earth and in space while driving to Questacon. The Above and Beyond exhibition is being held in Gallery 1. While walking up the ramp to the Gallery 1, have a conversation with babies and toddlers about walking up or higher or faster to increase their vocabulary.
The main exhibits include planes, rockets and drones among other fascinating demonstrations like science behind cyclones, tornedos and lightning strikes. Learn about our galaxy and others. Play interactive games and enjoy the flight simulations flying like a bird.
Take children under 5 years old to the Mini Q section of Questacon to let them play in the Space Area of the Mini Q. They can pretend to fly a rocket and have fun in their own way.
Enjoy food at the cafe or buy Above and Beyond Merchandise as a souvenir. The gift shop at Questacon has an interesting collection of science toys among other things. It is a wheel chair friendly Museum. Lockers can be hired for two dollars to put away bags etc. to have fun in a relaxed manner.
