The Puffing Billy Paranormal Investigation is suitable for children (at your discretion). The Victorian Heritage History and Paranormal Society organizes the event at Nobelius Heritage Park in Emerald. Children under 15 are free, and those 15 to 21 pay a reduced price.
The park is the site of the Puffing Billy's Nobelius Siding, a significant part of the Puffing Billy Railway in Emerald, with a rich historical background that will surely intrigue history enthusiasts.
This remnant of the former Nobelius Nursery, now known as the Nobelius Heritage Park, is a four-hectare remnant of the once vast Gembrook Nurseries developed in 1886 by Carl Axel Nobelius (1851-1921). His nursery became the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, with 200,000 trees grown on 180 hectares.
Large portions of Victoria's landscapes are indebted to the trees he grew, which ended up in public parks, private gardens, orchards, avenues of honour, and tree-shaded streets in our established suburbs.
To avoid the difficulties of road transportation for his stock, Nobelius advocated for the construction of the narrow gauge railway line, now known as the Puffing Billy line. The siding, built in 1904, served his packing shed, which was built in the same year.
As with other narrow gauge lines in Victoria, the line was not economically viable, and after a landslide between Selby and Menzies Creek, it was closed in 1954.
Due to public interest, the Puffing Billy Preservation Society was formed in 1955, and the rest, as we know, is history. Today, Puffing Billy is one of Victoria's most-loved tourist outings.

Puffing Billy volunteers also restored the two-storey Packing Shed, now used by the Railway as a function centre, particularly as a venue for Puffing Billy's various dining experiences, such as "Murder on the Puffing Billy Express.
