How can you tell when you are in the middle of a rich, grazing country? When the local cafe has hand-knitted jumpers for newborn lambs available for purchase, of course.

is located at 348 Rouse Street, the main thoroughfare through the middle of Tenterfield township, and is popular with both locals and travellers. Initially, when I walked by, there were customers sipping hot coffees early in the morning, sitting outside despite the chill of the westerlies. Later in the morning brave folk rugged up in scarves and beanies were being comforted by homemade Potato and Leek Soup whilst thawing out in the sun, whilst others enjoyed Devonshire Tea in the cosy warmth inside surrounded by vintage homewares available for sale.

We opted to sit outside in a protected area of the premises which is a popular area for those with both two or four-legged kiddies. Indeed, there is a special menu just for those who fit that demographic and we discovered it proved a popular meeting spot.

We found the coffee excellent with a wide range of savoury and sweet treats in the display cabinet.

The Cafe's opening hours are as follows:
Saturday 6:30& #8239 ;am–2& #8239 ;pm
Sunday 6:30& #8239 ;am–12& #8239 ;pm
Monday Closed
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday 6:30& #8239 ;am–2& #8239 ;pm
Thursday 6:30& #8239 ;am–2& #8239 ;pm
Friday 6:30& #8239 ;am–2& #8239 ;pm

Takeaway is an option and I was surprised to see so many farming types in their utes picking up a hot beverage to start their day. Good luck to them. I know how a decent coffee can influence the next 24 hours, don't you?

Worth visiting, even if you don't have a lamb.
