Admirers of 16th century paintings will want to flock to The Frick Collection this summer. In collaboration with the Foundation for Italian Art & Culture (FAIC), the Frick is bringing an iconic painting entitled "Schiava Turca" (Turkish Slave) by Francesco Mazzola (1503–1540) to the US for the 1st time. She will be joined by a private-collection work by the artist, "Portrait of a Man".
Also known as Parmigianino after Parma (the Northern Italian city of his birth) and "Raphael reborn," he was one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of the 16th century renowned for his portraits. There are no portraits by Parmigianino in public collections in the US. The Poetry of Parmigianino's "Schiava Turca" will be accompanied by a catalog and numerous public programs.
