Stuck in the vortex-like stream of the crowd that has descended upon Southbank on Sunday for the Lifestyle Markets, I saw the Plough Inn and heard the raucous groups of friends and acquaintances that took up it's old-fashioned balcony and deck area.
Managing to pull myself off the footpath and through the front doors, I was immediately welcomed by an entrance hall showcasing sporting memorabilia and a relaxed, pub atmosphere that put me at ease.
Embarking upstairs and greeted upon arrival by smiling staff behind the bar and a young man carrying two platters of dirty plates, I ordered a drink that was made perfectly and headed onto the balcony to gaze out over the picturesque Stanley Street Plaza.
The Plough Inn, built in 1885, is one of the oldest buildings in Brisbane and my friends and I enjoyed several drinks and found that we and the other patrons had soaked up the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
Located in Stanley Street Plaza, the pub hosts regular events in the Beer Garden and is host to a great selection of meals ranging from $7 for starters to about $27 for mains with steaks costing around $34-$38.
There is also a lounge area and several LCD TV's on which to view your favourite sporting events.
Highly recommending The Plough Inn for a relaxed Sunday Session.
