The historic Plough Hotel was established in 1859. Approximately half way between Ballarat and Melbourne travellers would regularly stop and stay, have a cold beer and a warm meal and enjoy the break before being on their way.

Recently refurbished inside, the Plough is beautifully presented. From the modern light fittings, dark wood tables and lounges to the fireplaces adorned with tealight candles and mirrors.

You will get old fashioned service with a smile. We had complimentary bread rolls and complimentary entree which was a nice touch.

The food was fabulous. From the fried chicken, to the linguini, the oysters, and homemade spring rolls - everyone raved about how great their meal was. I had a tasty linguini with pumpkin, flaked almonds and chilli. Vegetarians and vegans are happily catered for as well.

The serving sizes were good and pricing reasonable. Although there was a great selection of desserts, we were all too full to try any. Coffee was exceptional too, and topped off a truly special experience in quite an unlikely location.
