Once you make it to in Hervey Bay, you're far enough out of the main drag to be able to look across the water at a lot of the area and not be swamped by tourists. However, you're still central enough to be part of the bay's esplanade. Such a location, as well as the facilities and views of the park, make it one for both locals and visitors to the area.

can be found off the Charlton Esplanade in Pialba, with an easy-to-spot detour down off the road. The area itself stretches along the back of the beach, with tables, chairs and barbecues all available and even conveniently lit at night. About halfway along is a toilet block, with the same large wheelchair-accessible toilets that other beach-side parks around here have as well.

A big drawcard for kids is the big purple agility course that's found under a large colourful shadecloth. Not a simple set of play equipment, kids have to climb around the nets, ropes and platforms to get to the few special pieces of equipment in between. It's one that will actually appeal to older kids more tan their younger brothers and sisters.

To cater for the younger kids who would find the course far too difficult (though there is a slide, it's not a simple climb up some stairs to get to it) there is a small, basic set of play equipment next to it for smaller children. It has another slide.

There's a small stretch of sand down from the park (which turns into rocks pretty quickly) that's a popular place for people to walk their dogs. A path up above the park is always busy with cyclists and part of the long cycleway that stretches all along the Hervey Bay coast.

I can't confirm it myself, but I've also heard that out on the rocks at low tide you can see some Aboriginal fish traps. However It I didn't manage to find anything, so someone else will have to confirm whether or not they're there.

One last reason to lead to , other than the view, walks or picnic facilities, is to be part of the Picnic at the Pines Christmas lunch that's held here every year. Designed to make sure no-one spends the holiday alone, it's open to everyone and is alcohol- and smoke-free.
