Enjoy the picnic areas and playground, set up some sporting activities or just relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings at Maddingley Park, while our train pauses at Bacchus Marsh. Step from the train and exit the railway station area to access the beautiful park, which is just moments from the station exit. Maddingley Park also features the Nieuwesteeg Heritage Rose Gardens, which is a collection of rare and unusual roses, mostly from hybrid teas that were bred in the early 20th century. Bring a picnic hamper and drinks for an afternoon in the park. The train will travel from Southern Cross Station and Footscray Station to Bacchus Marsh with steam locomotive R 707 "The City of Melbourne", assisted at certain times by a heritage diesel locomotive. The air-conditioned train includes both open saloon-type carriages and compartment carriages seating a maximum of eight passengers in a compartment.
