I sometimes think that explorers (like me) and visitors to the Sunshine Coast may overlook the picturesque township of Maleny, spectacularly positioned on the Blackall Range, with panoramic views every which way you look. I personally, think that hubby and I don't spend nearly enough time enjoying the culture and creativity that Maleny inspires with artistic talents.
And, then of course, we have the totally delightful The Orangery in Maleny, a 'Breakfast, Lunch, High Tea and Function Venue', built in the traditional Queenslander style, with breezy verandahs and the added bonus of spectacular views towards the distant ocean. It was this very light and airy spaciousness, that inspired the venue's owners to be creative with its name, and so The Orangery was born!
With the selection of tea cups on display, you just know your cuppa will be perfect!
The Orangery in Maleny is open for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea (including High Teas) six days a week with breakfasts being served over weekends. The Orangery specialises in totally decadent gluten-free cakes (I can absolutely attest to this) and wholesome home-made meals. The fluffy mini cakes and savouries used on The Orangery's High Tea menus are all made in-house by an excellent team of chefs.
My better half and I arrived mid-way between the weekend breakfast hour and lunchtime hours - always a tad confusing for me, as I can never decide 'do I go backwards and have a second brekkie' or 'do I go forwards and have an early lunch'? All this to and fro-ing was indeed needless .the display cabinet at The Orangery took the decision process out of my hands.
My heaven-sent delicacy - totally delicious and gluten free too!
My selection for mid-morning was a slice of the totally delectable gluten-free (I don't have probs with gluten) Passion Fruit and Marshmallow Tart, served with a dollop of cream and wild berries! A taste sensation second to none .totally heaven-sent!
Hubby spoilt himself with the Canadian Pancakes, served with bacon, grilled bananas and maple syrup for $16.50, which was a larger portion than what I could have handled mid-morning, but his verdict was 'totally awesome, especially the Canadian Maple Syrup'!
The Orangery in Maleny just love to play host to functions. So, whether you're having a small business meeting; a birthday party; a book launch; social club get-together or a wedding - this fantastic venue has sufficient room to cater for your special function. The ample spaciousness at The Orangery is well able to cater to a group of eighty guests in a sit-down function or for ninety guests at a cocktail-style party.
The Orangery's decor is cottage-y and elegant with an eclectic mix of ornaments adorning walls and nooks and crannies, inspiring a walk-about curiosity for guests - I am talking for myself here! The very inviting fireplace adds to the charm and chic of The Orangery, ensuring that no matter the season, your wants and desires will be well taken care of at this little Hinterland gem.
No matter your occasion, The Orangery in Maleny, is absolutely worthy of a visit and with plenty of on-site parking, your 'to do' visit becomes an effortless outing!
