The Oak Room, is one of Ashburton's newest cafes. It's already been deemed fantastic by The Age's 'Coffee Army' and is the High St cafe of choice among the discerning coffee consumer.

The bright yellow coffee machine and coffee cups are sure to brighten your day, and I just love the minimalist decor and portraits of Hollywood stars of bygone years that line the walls.



The cafe itself uses Coffee Cartel beans and their baristas really know their stuff. The beauty of this little coffee paradise, is that it is far enough away from the city to avoid the hype and overcrowding known to happen when Melburnians get whiff of a good new coffee place.

The staff are also amazingly friendly and their knowledge and passion for coffee may just cause your brain to explode.

If you're after something more substantial than a sneaky cup of jo, The Oak Room also offers an impressive array of modern Australian cuisine. You can sample fare from the all day breakfast menu or try some of the outstanding mains on offer (another plus being the ability to de-gluten most of the dishes on offer. Or try the gluten free flaxseed pancakes - if there was only a way to spell the sound of drooling.)


So in summation, life's way too short to drink bland coffee.
