The Nest Community Inc is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation created to develop and maintain a community for the purposes of reducing social isolation, to provide advocacy, education and harm prevention strategies for women and children. They bring the community together by running workshops, craft social groups and craft events. They've taken a leaf out of the Boomerang Bags founders Tania Potts and Jordyn de Boer's book and are establishing their own social Sunday group who love to sew bags and chat. They're joining the global movement of grassroots community action by engaging local communities in the making of Boomerang Bags to reduce single use plastic.
New volunteers are required to assist with this project for the continuance of producing Boomerang Bags on a regular basis. The proceeds from the sale of these bags contribute towards supporting the Nest Community Inc. Head to 720 South Pine Road, Everton Park on Sunday 17 March 2019 from 2-4pm and connect to the community, learn and develop new skills, all whilst being sustainable. Suited to all ages, please REGISTER to attend for numbers.
There are kits available for those who may wish to sew at home rather than at the sewing bee events. Your help in sewing three bags a month goes a long way towards meeting the quota. Any help is gratefully accepted. Find out more HERE in regard to what is supplied and what to bring.
