Located at Timpson Street, Queens Wharf, Port Adelaide, is a special memorial called The Navigator - "S. S. Admella" Memorial.

The memorial was a tribute to the tragedy of the S. S. Admella, which was shipwrecked on 5 August 1859. It was one of the worst maritime tragedies in Australia's history where 89 lives were lost and 24 rescued. The ship was sailing from Port Adelaide to Melbourne when it struck the Carpenter Reef near Mt Gambier.

The memorial features its large ship's wheel, longitude and latitude markers, compass points and a black granite block.

Should you be in Port Adelaide next time, visit the Navigator Memorial and pay tribute to the lives lost in this tragedy.
