A museum which is more than just exhibits
The National Railway Museum is located in Port Adelaide and is home to Australia's largest railway museum with over one hundred exhibits, including a unique range of displays featuring facets of railway operation from the states and Commonwealth of Australia, together with private operators.

The Museum includes free train rides along with interactive and educational displays, making it the perfect point of interest to keep the whole family entertained.

Be in awe with the giant steam train engines as you climb into the cabs of these giant steam engines, step back into time as you stroll through the elegant carriages or enjoy a train ride! With so many things to do, see and experience this Museum is certainly one to visit.

There are operational track displays to see, along with other displays including the Man in Blue and the Adelaide Railway Station Indicator Board and the interactive interpretive tour of the famous Tea and Sugar Train.

The interactive map display gives you an insight on how the railways have shaped our nation and trace development in South Australia.

Explore the fascinating rare items which include Bob the Railway Dog's collar, displays of railway models and toys and see the model railway in action as well as exploring the many other exhibits throughout the Museum.

Whether you are a train enthusiast, want to learn something new, enjoy experiencing museums or just simply want something to do, then the National Railway Museum is the perfect place.

There is a shop onsite which showcases a large range of railway books, books, DVD's, souvenirs, Thomas the Tank Engine toys and clothing.
