The Musician Speaks

Independent musician Jade Leonard is absolutely living her dream. She's created a music performance platform and has some incredible artists involved on her new C31 TV show, The Musician Speaks. On Sun 14th December the final shows for series one are being filmed, at The Maven Room in Melbourne.

I attended episodes three and four last weekend, where Melbourne six-piece Indie folk band Forest Falls played, as did Herald Sun Aria award-winning soprano singer Kathryn Radcliffe. To say it was an afternoon to remember would be an understatement. From Fiona's vibrant greeting (the host of the guests), to the delectable food and dessert offerings it is an experience. Not to mention of course, the singing.

On episodes five and six, Jade will be joined by amazing soul singer/songwriter, Arowe, and underground electro-duo, Cocoa Noire.

Jade is putting the call out for YOU to be a part of the intimate studio audience for one last time this season. Come along to commemorate the guests, and honour the part community television station C31 has played in the development of the Australian entertainment industry.

You'll be part of an intimate gathering of 30 other guests, of which there are plenty of opportunities to mingle, have a birds eye view on exactly how a live music show is created (bloopers and all), plus be treated to some incredible talent. Last weekend, the harmonies of Forest Falls and the duet sung by Kathryn and Jade (completely in French), brought six guests to tears. It was completely moving and a rarity to be so close to the performance.

"It is such a privilege to share the stage with all these incredible artists," Jade says passionately.

"I'm so excited to go out with such a bang for our first series. I am overwhelmed with how much positive feedback I've received from the audience, guests and others. The final taping is going to be a big party! And there are a couple of surprises in store to say thank you for the support too!"

Cocoa Noire will be sharing their smooth electro vibes, and Arowe will bring her incredible soul/ roots feel along for the final shows in series one.

The imminent C31 station closure at the end of 2015, has made the prolific independent artist with over 15 years' experience, even more determined to showcase amazing musicians on the show she has developed. And she has put all her savings into self-producing it from start to finish.

Only a lucky few will have the chance to be part of this intimate experience.

"I saw there was a missing opportunity for musicians, there is no extended broadcast performance platform for them to tell a multi-song story and celebrate their uniqueness, so I've decided to create that. My guests will have the chance to play several tunes, sharing hidden talents and reveal things which have inspired and impacted their music and lives", Jade says avidly.

Ranging in genres from pop, jazz, opera, electro, soul and folk, guests will perform songs and collaborate with Jade, while sharing their story. The interview segment of the show is a blast, Jade is a consummate professional, uncovering tidbits of information only a fellow musician could elicit.

"This kind of performance space does not currently exist on Australian television. I'm so grateful that Channel 31 has offered me the chance to make my dream a reality," Jade muses.
