A very creative play set in New York, interwoven with art, emotion, life, death and love. Based on the novel by Heather Rose. Arky is the main character who struggles with his emotions and feelings for his ill wife, Lydia. His work as a film composer, the relationship with his daughter Alice and his feelings are put to the test as he tries to come to terms with loss and living his life with purpose.

When he finds himself viewing performance artist, Marina Abramovic at MoMA, who sits silent and completely still in front of hundreds of museum visitors, he encounters other museum-goers also drawn to her performance, each with their own story and reasons for visiting.

As the play moves along, we learn how the characters are intertwined and each shares their story of loving, letting go, not being able to let go and finding a purpose to live through loss.

The story is very clever in the sense that is it based around Marina's performance where she sat in the museum's atrium, very still and quiet and people could stay for 5 minutes or the whole day, look into her eyes or simply just be. The same way we can be when we are dealing with loss and change; we can spend little time or a lot of time thinking about it, look at the problem straight in the eye or avoid eye contact, we can feel comfortable in the silence or want to shout and react. The play explores these avenues with a sense of reflection to perhaps make us all think about our purpose, relationships, love and loss.

The acting is powerful and as the story unfolds, the themes of regaining life and purpose after loss shine through and you will find it thought-provoking and a great conversational piece afterwards.
