The Muppet Movie is a movie within a movie and tells the story of how Kermit the Frog and his band of merry Muppets got started out in show-business and how they battled frog leg eating bandits, dodgy car salesmen and the elements to get there.
With a star studded cast of guests, including Big Bird from Sesame Street, excellent puppetry and a soundtrack of amazing and memorable songs, especially the one and only "Rainbow Connection" sung by Kermit, voiced by the late great, mastermind of it all, Jim Henson, this is a film just made for the entire family to enjoy!
This was the first movie to ever have a hand puppet act with its entire body appearing on screen, the puppeteers really show off their skills, by depicting the Muppets standing, acting and even dancing in full-body shots with the most amazing scene being one where Kermit rides a bicycle down the road all by himself.
The Muppet Movie was the first of many films based on the highly popular television series, The Muppet Show, that ran from 1976 to 1981 and also had its own animated spin-off series, called Muppet Babies that ran from 1984 to 1991.
The Muppet Movie is rated G for general exhibition and was originally released on VHS in 1984 and first re-released on DVD in 2005.
