Fans of The Muppets are in for a treat this Christmas when Disney's classic 1992 film The Muppet Christmas Carol is presented live in concert at Sydney's International Convention Centre.

Featuring the musical score performed with an orchestra as the film screens, you will fall in love with the characters of this holiday tale adapted from the Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol.

For those who never saw the film, the story combines music and comedy and stars Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside various Muppet performers bringing to life Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit (the loyal clerk of the cold-hearted, stingy Scrooge), Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim. It's narrated by Gonzo (as Charles Dickens), with the help of Rizzo the Rat.

The tale sees Scrooge receiving visits from the spirits of three Christmases - the past, present and future. The ghost of the past shows him the error of his self-serving ways, choosing money over everything else, whilst the ghost of the present shows Scrooge the joys and wonder of Christmas Day. The ghost of the future takes on the funeral of the greedy and grumpy man as it shows a group of businessmen discussing his death and commenting that they will only attend the funeral if lunch is provided. Is this a wake-up call for Scrooge to change his ways and does he have any hope of redemption and happiness?

See the whole story of this Jim Henson production in all its glory with an original score composed by Miles Goodman (other scorings include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Little Shop of Horrors) and songs by Oscar, Emmy and Grammy-winning songwriter Paul Williams (known for Rainbow Connection and Evergreen).

The wit and warmth of this Christmas film is quite touching and, together with live music, it will make for a spectacular evening out for young and old alike. Tickets, with pricing based on seating area, can be purchased here.
