After searching extensively on the internet I booked at The Mouses House for one night on the eve of Valentine's Day. Although it was in the last minute, the owner gave no hesitations, even though the others were all booked out he secured my booking immediately. Thankfully I was offered the "Happy Chalet" which sounded fitting.

Driving from North Brisbane it takes about 1.5 hours.

Approaching Springbrook the temperature changes to cool, crisp fresh air as you drive by a handful of local sights you can't help but want to have a quick peruse of the local galleries and cafe's along the way.

Welcomed by the owner he outlined our stay in detail via brochures with maps and pointed out all guest information (free facilities) even the local sight seeing attractions, clearly and concisely remaining very friendly, pleasant and professional.

We were directed to our own personal car park space labelled "Happy" which was a quirky start to our adventure. The concept of the fairytale "Snow white and the seven dwarves" as a theme is original and cute. Especially if you're a fan of disney films like myself.

You're offered a fantastic mega-sized trolley to cart all your belongings to your chalet. From commencing your walk through the front gate that leads to your chalet you truly feel like you have stepped into a storybook fairytale setting.

Walking alongside the streams and being chorused along by rainforest wildlife passing the other ones makes the lead-up to your private destination even more fantasy like.

Upon arriving at the "Happy Chalet" with the cute sign at the door, you immediately feel embraced by the warmth.

The architecture is brilliant. From the cathedral-like ceilings it gives it a prestigious impression of optimum space and yet therustic charm creates for a very homely feel.

The wooden interior and mixed décor themes as the mellow woodens against burgundy curtains is a personal favourite of mine. In my opinion the furnishings offset against eachother well and compliment this timeless setting.

There's certainly a happy childhood nostalgia you feel in the air especially with the ladder to the loft you feel like an inquisitive child climbing up into the attic surroundings.

The spa that looks out into the rainforest is the best one i've seen yet although it is very open there is complete privacy and seclusion to allow the freedom to have a romantic interlude. The shower is highly therapeutic as it gives you a sensational massage.

The self-contained kitchen was very self-sufficient clean surfaces with no dust or dirt, with the use of modern facilities like the dishwasher all within close reach so if you're a keen cook this kitchen is ideal. There is ample space for lounging corners and the couches are extra comfy.

The bedroom with the guest bathrobes and "Happy" sitting on the end of the master bed he adds to the mood of the stay. The open fireplace was another brilliant creation, in the summer season we still had the privilege of a home-lit fire at night to create a romantic atmosphere, not restricted to seasonal use (eg: for winter), but for all year around.

Although we only booked in for one night we were offered an abundance of towels, unlike other accommodation, from the spa to the bathroom there's no reason for a shortage which is very convenient.

The free wi-fi access was definitely a winner, access to different power points for iphone charging and laptop use was practical as it allowed us to access the internet with surprisingly perfect coverage and fast internet speed.

Although we didn't end up watching any tv or dvds or had the chance to play board games we were spoilt for choice with two plasmas. One in the guest bedroom and the other in the lounge area.

Time constraints left us a bit short to fulfill all the activities on the ideal agenda the novelty of having free use of the hot tub, sauna, bikes, tennis courts, in-house dvd's, and boardgames (plus my favourite one free wi-fi) alone sets this place apart from the rest. Not only in a recreational sense but practicality and most importantly in value for money.

We were content to find we could bring all our own food as we didn't intend on spending any extra money on restaurants or do any unnecessary driving.

Although in-house menus and beverages (and extra therapeutic at an additional cost) are available on-site we sensed no added pressure/hard-sell from management to partake in them.

It was definitely a huge advantage as we wanted to keep close to nature in the experience and get maximum use out of the kitchen and our own home-made food.

What I loved about it was it's non-intrusive style unlike staying in a mainstream hotels or motels there were no people knocking on our door (eg. housekeeping) and the couples that we did see pass us by within the Mouses House vicinity all felt a mutual relaxed-carefree feeling of respect and safety is not an issue at all.

At the same time the atmosphere although very quiet and peaceful still offers the rich sounds of nature at it's best. Being greeted by a wild bush turkey on our front verandah was a laugh.

The Twin Falls walk (via the Canyon Lookout) was spectacular and ultimately breathtaking. The of the most serene views I've experienced.

The overall experience was truly magical I was delighted to have discovered this little piece of Heaven exists in our very backyard.
You leave it feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and renewed in mind, body and soul and for couples you will inevitably experience an enriching romantic and unforgettable time.

It's perfect for romance, adventure, relaxation, meditation, and getting in touch with mother-nature without all the fuss. Clean, spacious, professional, friendly, helpful and excellent value for money you can't go wrong with the Mouses House.

I recommend this place to anyone, young or old, honeymooners, short/long visits. Ideal for singles, couples and families. I'll definitely be doing repeat visits to The Mouses House and attempt staying in a different chalet each time with our 2 children and for more "couple time" to escape to unwind from the hustle bustle of everyday life.

Prices start from $240 per night for 2 people and children under 6 are free.
