A regular West End favourite, The Mouldy Lovers , performed recently as part of 2high festival . They've been on my list to see live for a while now, and I was suitable impressed.

[ADVERT]Playing as a seven-piece (there are eight members of the band), they had saxophone, trumpet, guitar, piano accordion, bass, keys and drums. I found it difficult to pidgeon-hole their music, although everything they played had significant overtones of gypsy, and spurred the audience to dance. My favourite moment of their set was an interpretation of the folk song St. James Infirmary Blues.

In early 2013, they will release their debut album Yonder Ruckus and a limited number on red 12" vinyl (pictured below). Be sure to check out their Facebook page here for further information about securing one of these.

With regular gigs in Brisbane, you can like them on Facebook here and listen to their music here .
