"This is so *!@#$*! good!"
- Jerry Seinfeld, in "The Non-Fat Yogurt" from the television sitcom "Seinfeld"

The yogurt at The Mix of course isn't non-fat; but I love Seinfeld and I love this yogurt; so being a nineties television junkie at heart, it was the first thing that came to mind. Also be truly honest with yourself, how many non-fat products have you tried that tasted good?

The Mix Frozen Yogurt And Drinks Bar is located conveniently across from Warwick Cinemas ; and is to say the least, a highly rejuvenating change from the generic epidemic of juice and coffee bars branching themselves out all across Perth.

After a night at the movies; devouring a small box of pop corn and half eyeing off my partner's Lorax ice cream; my stomach had begun to sound like it was conducting an opera. I soon found in what I first thought was a mirage, one of The Mix's pleasant staff members standing outside their store; handing out various irresistible yogurt samples to passers by. Like following a trail of bread crumbs, I soon found myself lead into what can be best described as the modern equivalent of nineteen fifties malt bars and in my opinion just as deliciously iconic.

One of the few main issues I have with most popular coffee and cold beverage bars is the set out and most notability the colour scheme. You may be wondering what on earth this has to do with eating yogurt, but especially in this shallower day and age, to quote Andre Agassi "Image is everything". Fortunately the issue of image is one that The Mix has very well dealt with; without resulting to the bare bones we're so cool and non conformist we didn't make an effort look, or that someone just walked into a room and regurgitated a rainbow. The Mix brilliantly relays a particularly relaxed visual atmosphere, almost as if you've been invited into a friend's home. Around the store you'll find paintings, birdcages, paper chains, old school typewriters and various other brick-a-brack suitably placed; a decorative job that is certainly a desirable visual treat.

The Yogurt at The Mix is just as enticing as the store itself. With a great range of eighteen addictive flavours; including eight self serve and fifteen different toppings, you're almost guaranteed not to look at Ski yogurt the same again. If this hasn't quite got you're attention, imagine having the ability to mix all eight self serve flavours and all fifteen different toppings into one yogurt tub. Got you're attention yet? If you're wondering what the flavours are, I'll let you use your own imagination until you get there. However what I will say is that there are flavours to suit just about everybody and if you don't like yogurt; they have soft drinks, excellent coffee and a large variety of other delectable snacks.

The only real constructive criticism I can think of for The Mix is the lack of background music, a need for some slightly more comfortable furniture, and perhaps vanilla ice cream for the little kids brought along who don't like yogurt. Other than that, The Mix is absolutely flawless. An establishment with both a brilliant service and product, making it perfect for a night out, especially for a before or after movie snack.

9.5/10
