Go for the donuts, stay for the food
Having a donut craving after the long and stressful exams, my friends headed to Redfern station to find The Milk Bar by Cafe Ish and their famous donuts.

Donuts
The variety of delicious donuts

Located a very short stroll from Redfern Station, a mere 100 metres or so, we found the cafe pleasantly crowded with people, happily eating their delightful lunches.

The cashier showed us to a small table, fit for two but squashed for three.

The menu was a double-sided laminated sheet, listing a variety of scrumptious options from the Milk Bar original burger to PBJ milkshakes. As orders were sent to the kitchen, we could see the chef making the burgers and the fries.

I ordered the grilled chicken burger and the Rocknroad shake. One of my friends opted for the cheeseburger and fries and on the far side of this picture is the Milk Bar original burger. The fries were delicious, mimicking the texture of wedges. It was accompanied by a mayo sauce.

Our shakes came first and they were addictive with a unique taste. I could taste the sweet coconut element complementing the milk.

The buns of the burger were soft and showed a hint of sweetness which perfectly matched the lightly pink cranberries. The sweetness of the cranberries complemented the grilled chicken.

My friends complimented their burgers likewise which is a testament to the quality of the cafe's burgers.

By the end of our lunch, we were all happy and full, feeling a bit sleepy. But we braved on and ordered our donuts!

They did not disappoint. There were donuts for every donut lover from White choc and macadamia to Jam to Caramel and the iconic Cinnamon.

I ordered the chocolate pistachio donut. To my surprise, the donut was not as sweet as most donuts. Rather, it tasted more like a bakery pastry in that the texture was stringy and an obstacle for the teeth.

I was delighted by the donut as the chocolate and pistachio combination was one of my favourites.

I couldn't wait to tell my other friends about this gem and I will definitely return. If you are in to satisfy your burger, milkshake or donut cravings, don't look any further.

The Milk Bar by Cafe Ish is sure to please and satiate all those cravings.
