Located a very short stroll from Redfern Station, a mere 100 metres or so, we found the cafe pleasantly crowded with people, happily eating their delightful lunches.
The cashier showed us to a small table, fit for two but squashed for three.
The menu was a double-sided laminated sheet, listing a variety of scrumptious options from the Milk Bar original burger to PBJ milkshakes. As orders were sent to the kitchen, we could see the chef making the burgers and the fries.
I ordered the grilled chicken burger and the Rocknroad shake. One of my friends opted for the cheeseburger and fries and on the far side of this picture is the Milk Bar original burger. The fries were delicious, mimicking the texture of wedges. It was accompanied by a mayo sauce.
They did not disappoint. There were donuts for every donut lover from White choc and macadamia to Jam to Caramel and the iconic Cinnamon.
I ordered the chocolate pistachio donut. To my surprise, the donut was not as sweet as most donuts. Rather, it tasted more like a bakery pastry in that the texture was stringy and an obstacle for the teeth.
I was delighted by the donut as the chocolate and pistachio combination was one of my favourites.
