For the first time ever, Caulfield Racecourse will host The Melbourne Fair, a huge exhibition showcasing and selling the very best in antique, 20th Century and vintage pieces over four days.
From 24 November – 27 November 2016, the Melbourne Fair brings you the very best selection of wares from bygone times. The event will see thousands of pieces for sale from dozens of dealers across Australia and Internationally.
Highly sought after vintage and antique furniture (think 18th century sideboard to a unique Art Deco cocktail bar)
Collectors' jewellery pieces (for example, a rare Fantoni figure and an Opal brooch given by Douglas Mawson, the Antarctic Explorer, to his wife)
Luxury vintage fashion (Vintage Chanel 2.25 bag)
The Melbourne Fair brings together collectors, traders and enthusiasts together under one roof. This is an opportunity to immerse yourselves in the beauty of yesterday, and maybe even take home a prized piece for your collection.
Experts will be available throughout the Fair, to provide an insight into the historical value of the items available to buy, many of which won't be found anywhere else.
For fashion enthusiasts, a special vintage couture exhibtion will unveil the story of "The Little Black Dress". Starting from its conception with Chanel in the 1920s to the modern day, this is an opportunity for you to admire fashion over the decades, from one of Marilyn Monroe's favourite designers – Ceil Chapman – as well as a string of global luxury fashion labels including Balenciaga, Dior and Gaultier.
As well as the exhibition, if fashion is your preferred vintage, you're in luck. Take home a beautiful vintage couture piece or a fabulous dress from the Great Gatsby era or a designer item from the 1960s, otherwise add to your jewellery collection with amazing pieces from some of Australia's finest jewellers.
From vintage designer labels such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton, to mid century furniture, lighting and decorative objects from the Georgina era such as ceramics and art, right through to the 20th Century items, there's something for everyone and every budget.
The Melbourne Fair opens on the evening of Thursday 24 November at 6pm, thereafter the Fair opens during the day on Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, 2016.
Tickets for The Melbourne Fair are now on sale, starting from $10 for concession, $15 general day admission to $30 for the opening night. Buy your tickets HERE. You can also follow the latest news on Facebook.
