The Meating Room is a Café, Grill and Bar in Weston Creek, 14kms south west of the city. If you have been to Weston Creek before, The Meating Room is situated on a busy corner opposite the local shopping centre Coolaman Court. Last time I visited Weston Creek this corner didn't grab my attention, however since this establishment opened in Winter 2015, it is now an inviting and colourful entrance to the Meating Room below.

There are outside tables for people to enjoy the sun and as you walk inside it is surprisingly larger than expected. There is a funky vibe to the whole place - exposed pipes in the roof, hand carved wooden stools, rustic tables, industrial light fittings and cosy nooks for people to sit and chat. If you wander around you can view the chefs at work through the long window and the kegs of beer are located behind a display window. As you walk up the bar, it is the milk crate light fittings that grabs your attention.

There is also a stylised mural on the wall of the three owners which creates a personal touch and the darkness of the décor adds to the grungy, modern vibe.

When we arrived for breakfast at opening time on a Saturday and were the only ones there - however within 15 minutes the place was the social hub of the community. Friends stopped for a coffee outside after a bike ride, couples came in for a quiet breakfast and several families came in with their kids zeroing in on the small kids room. In the kids room there are soft toys and mega bloks for the toddlers and two game consoles for the older kids.

Welcomed by friendly staff, we were told to find a seat where we liked and given menus. There is a good selection to choose for breakfast (see menu here ), as well as a wide variety of options for the rest of the day. In need for a good coffee, we were impressed with the size of the latte in a mug - almost soup bowl sized!

For breakfast we chose the Baked Beans Breakfast (Kitchens slow cooked beans, poached egg served with crispy bread for $12), Meating Room Bacon and Egg Roll (Two eggs, bacon, cheese, tomato, caramelised onions and house smokey sauce for $11) and a side of hash browns for $3.50 each.
We ordered the hash browns for our daughter as she likes the traditional variety, however they were home made, crispy and oniony - delicious to go with adult meals instead. Next time we will get the Kids Egg on Toast for $7.50 for her to enjoy.
The Baked Beans Breakfast was filling and had a tasty tomato sauce through it and the Meating Room Bacon and Egg Roll was jam packed and juicy.

The Meating Room would also be a great location to visit for lunch, dinner, meet a friend for a cronut (more on that later!) or catch up with mates for a beer. It has every social situation covered, with live music held every Sunday between 3pm - 6pm - check their Facebook page for more info. This establishment can be everything for everyone - mothers groups and families coming for a meal, local business people coming in for a meeting, mates catching up for a beer and nightlife with a pub feel in the evening. With the Cornerstone Café (which also opened in 2015) and Lava café also down the road, there are new choices for people visiting Weston Creek.

This Café, Grill and Bar is an asset to Weston Creek, especially for locals who can just wander down and use it as a social place to catch up with friends and have a good meal. We were impressed with the welcoming feel to the place and will return again with friends to relax and enjoy the social setting together.
The building itself is particularly cool in Summer, however this will also be a cosy place in winter to shut the doors and get stuck into those mugs of coffee and tasty cronuts they have on display, tempting all those that walk past.
