Come see what the fuss is about under the Martin Place slope

When I'm working in the Sydney CBD, I have a few favourite bars that I head to for a business lunch or after work drinks. Amongst those bars is Martin Place Bar, a centrally located, modern bar hidden under the slope of Martin Place. There is plenty of space inside and an outdoor area to accommodate smokers and those who like to enjoy their lunch in the sun. The bar has a very practical layout with lots of tables and stools and the odd couch, so there is space to spread out and settle in.

Martin Place Bar has a reputation for being a bit of a hot-spot, noisy and crowded, particularly during the 'after-work-drinks' hours on Thursday and Friday evenings - but personally, I don't mind it. See past the bustle and you will find a neat bar that offers everything you need for a decent time out.

It's not just about after-work drinks, Martin Place Bar is also a great hang-out for the work lunch. With the informal dining atmosphere, Martin Place Bar is suitable for anything from a quick catch-up with a mate, to a large group lunch such as the office Christmas party. The service is no-fuss, efficient and friendly, the food is what you would expect for a bar bistro and the drinks are cold.

For a business lunch, Martin Place Bar offers a 'Lunch within the Hour' service, where you can pre-order your lunch so that it's ready and on the table when you arrive. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy your meal and catch up with mates without having to queue to order or rush down your food.

Food at Martin Place Bar

The Martin Place Bar bistro offers a seasonal menu created from locally sourced produce and boutique suppliers. If you're feeling pretty hungry, try their house-made, free-range Chicken Schnitzel - it's huge and will satisfy any appetite. The lamb burger is also a treat - tasty and juicy. For something a little healthier, try the Crispy Skinned Atlantic Salmon, or a Thai-Style Roast Beef Salad.

There are also a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, so there is something for everyone.

If you're like me, you're big on fries and I have to say Martin Place Bar delivers on the crispy-fry-front. Shoestring fries come with bistro favourites such as the Chicken Schnitzel, Burgers and Sandwiches, or you can indulge in a bowl of fries on the side.
