Bridget's son Jesse's life was cut tragically short after a single punch from his best friend, Tom. Ten years later, Bridget is marrying Jesse's killer. The people around them, including Tom's mother, Jill, and Coral, the mother of Jesse's child, are confused and angry about the relationship, and many people have something to say about the 18 year age difference between the couple, but they have their reasons. After Tom's release from prison, he hopes to have a new life with Bridget, but ghosts from the past keep coming back to haunt them all.

The Marriage is a new domestic thriller by KL Slater, the author of The Silent Ones and The Apartment . The plot sounds a bit Days of Our Lives, and to be honest, it is; full of betrayal, blackmail and deceit. If that's what you're in the mood for, then like me you will be sucked into this story from the first page, trying to guess at everybody's motives until the end. It was fairly obvious who the villain was from about halfway through, but I still wanted to see how it all tied together. There were plenty of twists and turns and ultimately a satisfying ending.

KL Slater's books are a sort of guilty pleasure for me. They're always a bit far fetched but they're hard to put down. It probably tells you all you need to know that I already had another of her books lined up to read next before I even finished this review.
