This film is based on the true story of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, and also on the book by Robert Kanigel. Srinivasa's life is totally altered when he writes a letter to Professor Hardy (played by Jeremy Irons) of Cambridge University.

Srinivasa leaves his native home town in India to go to Cambridge University. The story follows his progress there, as he tries to get his mathematical theories published, and it elaborates on the many hurdles he faces in trying to accomplish this.

Brilliant acting by both Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel, it also has a guest appearance by Stephen Fry. Dev Patel is well known for his part in The Best Marigold Hotel.

Although the movie is virtually a documentary, it is very interesting, and shows how Srinivasa progresses up the ranks, continually showing his genius with mathematical theories.

There is some romance, as well as insight into how Universities were run in the WW1 era.

Showing at the Luna in Essex St, Fremantle and also at Oxford Street, Leederville, the following is the official trailer:

It is directed by Matt Brown and runs for 108 minutes.
