Whether you like to call him Santa, Father Christmas, or St. Nic, around Christmas time you see him everywhere. While Christmas wishes and photographs can be had at just about every shopping centre across Adelaide, there is one place that thinks Christmas is really special. opens on the 12th of November, following the Credit Union Christmas Pageant , and year after year it provides a magical place for children to enjoy.

can be found in the David Jones Shopping Centre on Rundle Mall. When you head the escalators, or in the elevator, you'll then find footprints on the ground leading you to the special area. You can hop in line to join the queue waiting to get their photographs taken with Santa, or you can head straight on in to enjoy the festivities inside.

When children go to meet Santa they will be given a bit of time to talk with the jolly old man, and tell him all the things they want for Christmas. If you're buying photographs you'll then also get your photo take. The staff here are great, they'll try and make sure you get the best photo even with uncooperative kids, and they'll even be accommodating if mum, dad, or an uncle, or auntie want to get in the picture too. provides a wonderful backdrop for Santa photos, and the icicle laden walls will create wonderful photos.

As well as Santa there are some other much loved characters that head to the Magic Cave every near. The most popular are probably Nipper and Nimble, the two rocking horses that date back to the 1800s. They first appeared in the pageant in 1933, and are a popular addition to the Magic Cave. The kids will also enjoy talking to Dave, the magic talking tree. They can also see all of the elves at work inside their workshops, getting ready for Christmas.

As well as all the great characters for the kids to meet, there are fun things for them to do as well. They can either have a ride on Nipper or Nimble, or both, and they can also enjoy the indoor Merry-go-Round. There are drinks, popcorn, and fairy floss, for the kids to munch on while they explore. Apart from paying for photos with santa, or buying food, the whole magic cave experience is free. This makes it a really great way to pass some time during the Christmas season.

So head along from November 12th to say hello to Santa, and enjoy some Christmas fun. is open all regular shopping hours. You can see Santa for free, but any photo packages will cost you.
