Celebrating their latest album 'Trans Atlantic Highway', Lost Ragas are coming to Burrinja to share their interstellar musings. Described as 'Cosmic Country', they explore the psychedelic realms of country music. Featuring Matt Walker and with support from local musician Brian Baker, Saturday 26 September 2015 is the date with dinner from 6pm and music from 8pm at the Burrinja Cafe, corner Glenfern Road and Matson Drive, Upwey. Tickets are $20 and you can get them HERE or via the box office on 9754 8723.
Matt is a local Belgrave musician and an ARIA Award winner. Lost Ragas came together when Matt with 20 years in the roots music scene crossed paths with pedal steel player Shane Reilly. Shane's mercurial style of playing was the perfect foil for Matt's darkly fragile vocals and sinewy guitar playing. Add Roger Bergodaz on bass and Simon Burke on drums applying their slow burning brand of rhythm and you come up with some epic creations of deep and dark country tinged music with menacing intent.
There'll be songs of murder and alienation, songs of love, friendship and even a stunt motorcycle legend. Drawing from real places and sculpted into something poetic and powerful, these are the stories that bind this band together. Following on from their debut Phantom Ride which garnered ABC Radio National Album of Week, Lost Ragas' release of their second album Trans Atlantic Highway is travelling down the same road to critical acclaim once again.
