It's best to just take in the scenery with this one, because not much else is on the itinerary.

Slight story about a young couple hiking through the Georgian mountains with a native as their guide, is a film of mostly small moments. Director Loktev is quite prepared to take her time, and thinks nothing of giving us drawn out scenes of the bilingual pair conjugating Spanish verbs ad infinitum.

The key scene in the film actually starts out by providing an unexpected laugh before introducing the film's key dramatic counterpoint. While held at gunpoint, the male lead shows his true colours, and isn't quite the man his companion assumed him to be. The scenario produces a big rift between the couple, and with no escape from each other in the wilderness, there's no avoiding the conflict.

The film is a wee bit sad, and a wee bit sweet, but is delivered at such a deliberate pace that many will decide not to complete the journey.

Gael Garcia Bernal stars in two films opening in Australia within weeks. If you ask me, his other offering, No, is the much better option.

Aww...and the trailers were telling us how great the movie was...a bit too slow, hey?

I feel your pain, Fiona. I sat though it in the vain hope that it would improve. Alas, it didn't.

A complete waste of film. A few hours of my life I will never ever get back again. Possibly the most boring film I've ever seen (and I've seen a few). Philip
