Melbourne has so much to offer. I love experiencing new places and events and sharing them with you.
I have an interest in gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets so I will let you know if you these can be catered for in my reviews.
Are the aliens coming? No, that's just Melbourne in winter coming to life. Experience amazing light art, cultural performances, a variety of forums and events over June 2013.
The annual Light in Winter Festival runs from the 1st to the 30th of June 2013. This year's theme is the power of voice and the helix.
There will be local and international artists, including renowned light artist, Bruce Ramus, who is creating a helix tree in the centre of Federation Square. A 13m high steel and light structure representing life itself.
The Helix Tree will be activated each night at dusk by the voices of Melbourne. A succession of community choirs will assemble at its base each night during the month of June and the tree will respond to the voices of those who sing to its network of spirals and curves. Wow, what an experience this promises to be.
Other artists include Luzinteruptus, Bruce Ramus, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Srinivas Krishna and United Visual Artists. Multicultural acts will feature also, bringing a richness and light to wintery Melbourne.
With the Winter Solstice on 22 June, there will also be a special celebration.
