The Light in Winter festival returns to Melbourne from the 1st of June until the 1st of July, 2012.
This free annual festival of light and enlightenment brings together the Melbourne community with a series of special events, forums and a temporary public exhibition. The City of Melbourne will literally 'light up' as light based installations will once again surround the cultural centre of the Melbourne - Federation Square.
Now in its sixth year, the festivities of The Light in Winter 2012 events program will once again be directed by Robyn Archer, an acclaimed singer/songwriter, playwright, theatre director, artistic director, and public advocate of the arts. The 2012 festival theme is 'reading', given that this year is the
National Year of Reading .
As with previous years, there will be a special guest artists - this year Spanish art collective
Luz Interruptus will be brightening up the Melbourne streets.

The proceedings will begin with an opening ceremony and the lighting of the
Leempeeyt Weeyn ' campfire - then the fun begins.
