The Light in Winter festival returns to Melbourne from the 1st of June until the 1st of July, 2012.
This free annual festival of light and enlightenment brings together the Melbourne community with a series of special events, forums and a temporary public exhibition. The City of Melbourne will literally 'light up' as light based installations will once again surround the cultural centre of the Melbourne - Federation Square.
Now in its sixth year, the festivities of The Light in Winter 2012 events program will once again be directed by Robyn Archer, an acclaimed singer/songwriter, playwright, theatre director, artistic director, and public advocate of the arts. The 2012 festival theme is 'reading', given that this year is the National Year of Reading.
The Light in Winter festival is a wonderful opportunity to venture out to the city during the colder months and not only see the interactive light based installations illuminate the city, but also explore all the different and divine facets of 'light,' such as energy, warmth, wisdom, purity and life.
Celebrate The Gift of Light this winter by participating in the free and family friendly events of the annual Light in Winter festival, to not only light up the winter darkness, but enlighten your mind and spirit.
