If you're anything like me, you may not be as kind to your body as you should be. The buzz word in good health these days is "detox". There are several programs that promise to help you clean out your body.
Some promise you can even do an effective detox in 24 to 48 hours, but the general opinion is that it doesn't work that way. I'm all for a quick fix, so I wanted to do as much research as possible.
I've looked at several programs, and the most popular and effective program that I could find (based on testimonials and wide media coverage - and the fact that I couldn't find anyone who said anything bad about it) was The Lemon Detox Program which addresses the process of cleansing your body the sensible way.
I even went as far as to phone the managing director of the company, Endree Saade. He was more than helpful, and explained that this is not a new fad, and that the product was actually introduced about 50 years ago.
It's true that your body comes with its own built in equipment to take care of the nasty stuff that you put into it. The kidneys, liver, lungs, colon, all process waste and toxins. But over a period of time - particularly if you constantly eat, drink and breathe the wrong things, you may need a little help.
They say that if you think of your body as a polluted river you'll get the idea.
I can't tell you that I've ever undertaken a full detox. Over the years I've abstained, fasted, dieted, switched foods, taken supplements and never really felt any better for it. So with some research and a long overdue stab at fulfilling a New Years Resolution, I'm going to try this.
Several celebrities have done it, apparently with great success - so how hard can it be.
The Lemon Detox Program promises to be safe, simple and effective. When you think detox, you think of going a long time without solid food. Apparently this is the most effective way to do it. But the great thing I found about Lemon Detox is that you can tailor your very own program to suit your lifestyle.
With my lifestyle, which requires that I attend lunch meetings and "need" to partake of the obligatory glass or two of wine, it wouldn't work for me to go a whole 7 days without food. I plan to do the 50/50 version, which allows me to take the Lemon Detox Drink for two meals, and lets me have one "normal" meal each day. It takes longer to complete the process this way, but that's the way it has to be for me.
However, if you do choose the 7 - 10 day full body cleanse, it does mean going without solid food for all that time. Sound daunting? Apparently it's a lot easier than you think.
The Lemon Detox Drink is the important part of the program. It's made from Madal Bal Natural Tree syrup - a combination of specially sourced palm and maple syrups. This is designed to give you energy during the cleanse and a high level of potassium. To the drink, you add fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and pure water. As the toxins start to leave your body, you feel more energetic. Testimonials show that the condition of your hair and skin improves, you lose weight, your digestive system functions properly, and even your concentration improves.
As I haven't yet done the program, I can't tell you about any side effects, but starting this weekend, I plan to find out. After listening to and reading testimonials from "real" people, those who have undertaken the program , they report that they don't feel inclined to return to their former bad eating and drinking habits.
I can't help feeling a little skeptical, but I know that we only have one body, and one crack at looking after it. Unfortunately many of us pay more attention to the condition of our motor vehicles; I pay attention to neither. So, as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Hi: I had a friend who did it with great success. Lost weight and looked fab. Not sure how long the results lasted though. Anyway, I tried it, and didnt get past day 3. I couldn't handle the all liquid diet and got very ill. I think you need to be careful of anything that doesnt have some sort of 'food' involved, but each to their own I guess ..... :)
