The Lego Movie

Have you ever dreamed up amazing adventures from just a few pieces of Lego? Or maybe you've just stepped on one too many sharp bricks? Either way, you'll find something fun from this movie.

The animation in particular is amazing. It's CGI for the most part, but the style they've used looks more like stop-motion animation. Contributing to the movie are a total 3,863,484 unique Lego bricks. If you wanted to recreate the whole movie yourself, you'd need over 15 million Lego pieces. You're also bound to recognise some of the Lego sets you would have played with as a child, as the movie pays homage even to some of the older and more obscure sets released.

Although there were a few confusing parts in the way the narrative unfolded, the story was otherwise well told. It follows the classic Hero's Journey tale, but it also takes the time to reflect on modern day society, while also leaving you with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end.

The voice acting is superb, with an excellent line up of actors who play their characters really well. Notably, Morgan Freeman is a standout as Vitruvius, Will Ferrell as President Business, and Chris Pratt is extremely funny as Emmet.

This movie takes all the best parts of Lego and packs it in to 101 minutes of fast-paced, very funny, animated action. It's definitely worth seeing.
