This dinner outing was for a Valentine's treat. A degustation meal - 6 courses.

And let me just say, god damn! This dining experience awakened my tastebuds for sure. Probably the best fine dining I have tasted in Newcastle.

Imaginative, proactive, flavour bursting ... it had it all.

Take a look at the menu first up.


It's pretty impressive but when I did read the menu, I felt some of the courses, like the yoghurt, sounded a bit boring, but I was surprisingly wrong. Probably the pork belly and the yoghurt dish were the best. The flavours oozing from the pork belly were incredible. The textures were spot on and consumed my palate with indulgence. And like every fine dining restaurant, the presentation was impeccable.

The pineapple, coriander and yoghurt dessert was a party in my mouth. I was actually quite happy I couldn't really taste the coriander as I'm not really a big fan. The pineapple was juicy and it tasted like an upmarket crumble, with the right amount of sweetness. Sweet tooths, you would love it!

Must admit the second dessert, chocolate sorbet and passionfruit parfait was also to die for. Every mouthful pure bliss.

So to say I liked this menu at The Landing is an understatement. The only thing that wasn't my cup of tea, the cured fish, but hey I like my fish cooked but I still ate it and found it fresh and flavoursome.

I think I may just have to give it a 10/10 (now that's pretty good coming from me).

And even though the meals were very small, there was enough to be satisfied by the end. One honourable mention not on the menu - the palette cleanser, cauliflower and scallop soup. Wow! That was flavours personified!

Great menu, great taste, great presentation, a major thumbs up.

P.S.I heard a whisper that they are considering changing to a more mainstream menu, hope they still keep the fine dining side as well.
