Besides its mining heritage, Moonta, a town that is part of the Copper Coast Triangle area in Yorke Peninsula, about 2 hours from Adelaide, is also well-known for its beautiful beaches. Visiting this seaside town is not complete without having fish and chips.

That day, we were visiting The Kraken Takeaway for their fish and chips after visiting
Moonta Bay Foreshore . While waiting for our order ready, we went across the street and found a
community piano . We decided to kill the time and played some tunes.
When we got our order, the fish was all cooked perfectly and the chips were all packed in generous servings. We ordered medium size chips for 5 of us, but it was a lot. We could have just ordered a small size. But the chips were just perfect, not oily, not too salty, so we ate all up. Our little one ordered kids-size calamari and they all cooked alright, not chewy at all.

Friendly, helpful service and locally caught seafood, will make us come back for another time. We took our lunch to the picnic area at Queen Square, not far from The Kraken. But if you want to stay and eat, they have some tables and chairs in their shop as well as outside of their shop.
