I work in Bulimba and I've got to say, Oxford Street is a little overrated. It's got some cute fashions boutiques and homewares stores but the food can generally be a little overpriced for what it is. (With the exception of the cupcakes at the Oxford Street Bakery - I'd pay anything for those).
But The Jetty Oxford is a gem. And a gem discovered accidentally. I was with the girls from work doing a lunch run to get sushi and somehow we ended up at the very end of Oxford Street, near the Jetty and came across - the Jetty.
The atmosphere was buzzy, with a mix of young couples, mums, suits and retirees enjoying lunch on a divine Queensland day. The restaurant opens out to overlook the riverfront so you can casually watch the Brisbane River story and the disembarking passengers walk by.
The food though - OMG. This was the salmon gravalax on sweet corn potato cakes with tomato and caper salsa and lemon creme fraiche. I know, it's not very vegetarian and an expensive dish, but by god it was delicious. You'll see Miranda had it too and couldn't agree more - the Jetty Oxford is our new favourite restaurant.
