This is the second book in the Caller of Blood series. If you haven't read the other book, I would recommend you to read it first before tackling this one. The book follows Emma as she slowly begins to understand her new life in the shifter world. Emma and her team of bodyguards and maidens travel to the Jackal Kingdom. This journey is full of tension, as the there's no love loss between the Jaguar Kingdom and the Jackal Kingdom. As Emma and her team of friends, bodyguards, allies and protectors enter into the Jackal Kingdom they soon realise that there is something amiss. And it's up to Emma to get everyone out alive.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. It was action packed and you start learning a lot more about each of the characters and the shapeshifter world. Emma is slowly coming into her own powers and she's a complete badass! I loved the character developments throughout this book, and I really liked how they eventually banded together to overcome a common enemy. I wasn't completely fond of the pseudo love interests that Emma had.

I felt it was mostly that the author couldn't decide how to have Emma end up with and started these love interests. Although, I did enjoy that she didn't just fall into bed with each of them. Emma has such a strong personality that even when she gets thrown into things that she doesn't completely understand but she tries her best to overcome things the best of her abilities and what she thinks is right. Part of this book I didn't like was that I found that Emma was always kept in the dark I think at some point she would need to really understand what destiny has for her before getting thrown into situations that she doesn't understand. The book was well written and full of action and I can't wait to see what else is install for Emma in the next book.
