Have you ever had a sleepless night? Do you wonder what your subconscious does when you are deprived of sleep? In this busy modern life you probably aren't alone with an estimated 1 in 3 Australians suffering some form of sleep deprivation or sleep disorder.
Join Melbourne-based composer/director Natasha Moszenin for The Insomnia Project, as she uses a creative music-theatre production as a form of self-therapy. The show promises to take you on a journey through her personal experiences and explore the conditions experienced by people who suffer from sleep disorders.
Following four individuals as they battle with a sleepless night, they will share a collective journey through fear and fantasy, exhaustion and loneliness. Often exposing the harsh truth and yet at times hilarious, the multimedia experience will be sure to showcase the truth about the disorder and blur boundaries between the waking world and that of dreams. A story told through spoken word, motion, poignant music and a merging of light and dark, it will force audience members to consider the tragic yet comedic condition of insomnia as it looks to garner sympathy and highlight the issues.
A short season of only 10 shows will begin on the 29th of July at the La Mama Courthouse Theatre in Carlton, so get in quick for your tickets.
