Presented via satellite as part of the 2016 Our Ocean Conference being held in Washington, D.C., this free public lecture will present innovative research being undertaken at the University of Western Australia (UWA) about key issues affecting our oceans. The focus of the research is to determine how large marine protected areas increase can resilience in ocean wildlife and support its recovery. Held at 5 PM on Thursday the 15th September 2016, the lecture will be held at UWA.
The public lecture will be delivered by Professor Jessica Meeuwig, whose laboratory research focuses on the role of marine protected areas in supporting ocean resilience. Professor Meeuwig is Director of the Centre for Marine Futures and a member of the UWA Oceans Institute and School of Animal Biology. The Our Ocean Conference, which the public lecture is part of, is hosted by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and seeks to address major ocean issues such as marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts.
Attendance is free but tickets must obtained through Eventbrite.
