I'll start by saying this is fun, amazing and entertaining. It's all about the theatre before cinema and television. The performers are dressed as they were at the turn of the century with a narrator to take us through the show with great humour. Seven of the best 'Illusionists' in the world, with a completely new show for Brisbane [they were here last year] got to work.
What's new in the magic business? Not much but it never ceases to entertain. The usual, mind reading, card tricks, a clowning juggler, a daredevil who's pants catch on fire and a beautiful lady who disappears into the flies. What more do you want?
A bit of a slow start to the show but after interval the real abracadabra stuff burst forth, real heart in the mouth antics. Lots of audience participation, done with grace and fear, leaving one to wonder 'would I do that'? 'Do you trust me?' WELL…… would you let someone play with knives while your hand is on a block?
A well-deserved standing ovation for the Illusionists who have to devout their lives to practise, practise, practise otherwise accidences can and have happened in the past, sometimes on the stage. A great start to the New Year, not to be missed for the young at heart.
