The Hub @ Varsity is a funky little café, bar and restaurant located in varsity lakes. I have visited there a number of times for different reasons over the last few months and each time I come away I think I love it that little bit more. What strikes me the most is how friendly and welcoming the staff are, each time I have visited, for whatever reason, their service is always great and you are made to feel really welcome.
The coffee and the food are excellent and pretty reasonable in comparison to many bars and restaurants on the Gold Coast, plus they have so many dishes available you will always find something you want. The most recent visit my family and me went for dinner there for my birthday last month, the service was as always really good (I even got a birthday discount!) and the food was really yummy. I had the creamy chicken and bacon pasta ($15) which was amazing, my brother had the roast lamb ($13.70), and my sister-in-law had the steak sandwich with chips ($14), they were all delicious plus the portion size are huge, yay!
They have a small bar selection too with beers, wines and spirits plus some special cocktails and again drinks are reasonably priced. They started to have quiz nights, sports nights and live music recently too which adds to the evening appeal and makes it more of an evening venue as well as a café/restaurant. I think it manages to be all three perfectly and is slowly establishing itself as the place to be locally.
It just has a great vibe, the cool arty décor and inventive creative touches such as the vinyl wall display, the photo collage tabletops and my personal favourite the front-door table, make it a fab alternative to other cafes and restaurants. The service is always on the money, the music is great and the food is excellent, so for me, it just manages to tick every box.
