If you're an avid theatregoer and wanting something to do this weekend, then check this play out at Murdoch University.

This is not your average play. is quite possibly the best production I've seen this year. Not just in terms of acting ability but also in artistic direction and story. The idea that it'll take you on a psychological journey filled with twists and turns is an understatement.



The room is dark. The air is still. A singular light shines down on the stage, under it a singular figure is slumped in a chair. Unmoving. No reaction and no emotion. The control actress Melissa Munoz Escobar possesses to captivate an audience without moving is something special.

I've always enjoyed a play that makes me think, not just during the viewing but also after the viewing has finished. Director Tim Brain, the genius behind The Mummy Rises (part of Nexus Theatre's Gothics trilogy in 2016) has managed to create an experience and an environment that captivates the audience from the moment they step in the door. The changes in character from all actors (Ella Ewart, Jason Tolj and Jacob Murphy) must be applauded as even the slightest misdirection on their part would derail their captive audience.



With a minimalist cast (comprising of simply four people) and a minimalist script (which will take you round in circles) is a truly wonderful piece of theatre, the only thing I can say is that I am sorely upset that it only plays for three nights.

If you want to immerse yourself in a viewing experience that will captivate you from the second you walk into the room, I highly recommend seeing at Studio 411.
