Hop into The Hof for some big Bavarian beers and food
The Hof Downtown has opened its doors again after a major refurbishment. The sister outlet to Hofbrauhaus in Market Lane, Melbourne, The Hof Downtown offers a similar German-influenced menu and a range of beers and cocktails.

Situated just across the road from Etihad Stadium, and a short walk from Southern Cross Station, The Hof Downtown is a convenient place to have your pre or post-concert or match meal.
It's a large venue, spread over two levels, so there is plenty of room for diners. In the photo below, the venue had been cleared out for the relaunch party; this space would normally be filled with tables.

There's also a huge bar, so it's a great place to pop in for a drink. There are 10 German beers on tap.

The menu features a range of smaller tapas-style dishes as well as larger dishes - catering for all sizes of appetite. From the dinner menu, you could, for example, select roasted bone marrow served with olive oil and sea salt ($16.50) or slow braised ox cheek served on parmesan polenta ($25.50) from the 'small/medium' section of the menu. As you might expect, the famed 1.5kg roast pork knuckle served with a side of sauerkraut, mash potato, pork jus and mustard ($49.90) gets a run on the 'large/sharing' section of the menu. Or you could try the classic mussel pot served with chips, bretzel, garlic butter and cocktail sauce ($36.50).
There are a few desserts on offer, including apple strudel ($13.50) and flourless chocolate cake with a white and orange chocolate ganache, chocolate ice-cream ($14.50).

While the menu is heavily weighted towards meat-based dishes, courtesy of the Bavarian tradition, The Hof will cater for vegetarians and others with specific dietary needs. Please contact The Hof in advance of your visit to ensure your needs are met.
