The Heritage Restaurant located on Mt Tamborine is a place for the enjoyment of fine wine and fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere.
Located within an hours drive from Brisbane, perched on top of the Gold Coast hinterland, it is a place to seek out. With views sweeping out over the hinterland all the way to to Gold Coast, it sets the mood for some sampling of good food and wine.
My husband and I booked here for lunch, a couple of weekend ago during a weekend away up in the hinterland. We had been enjoying exploring the cellar door wineries and sampling a lot of great food. The Heritage operates as a cellar door with wine tasting daily from 10am - 4pm. It has quite a selection of wines to sample from the classic whites to the Reds and even sweet liqueurs. The wines come from the Heritage Estates. We prefer the whites over the Reds and thus choose a Chardonnay to accompany our lunch.
The Heritage building itself apparently was an old Catholic Church from Burliegh that has been beautifully restored to include a restaurant and wineriy. The restaurant is open for lunch and caters for weddings and special occasions in the evenings. The old architecture shines through with the huge fireplace still in its place of glory and warms up the restuarant on those cold Mt Tamborine days and nights.
My husband's choice was a "surf and turf" which consisted of a prime eye fillet of beef with bugs, prawns and scallops over a bed of potatoes seasoned with a garlic cream sauce. This went down well with loads of flavour as well as looks.
Our lunch was very leisurely and our wait staff were attentive and helpful in the selection of our meals. It's moments like these when you realise how much this great country of ours has to offer and how lucky to have it in our backyard to enjoy.
