The Heirs is one of the most-watched Korean dramas ever, even though it received a lot of critics for its cliché and stereotypical storyline of rich kids loving poor kids.

Released in 2013, The Heirs is about an heir to a South Korean chaebol (conglomerate business), who falls in love with the daughter of his housekeeper. Setting in Jeguk High, a high school populated by privileged and very rich kids, The Heir turns a love triangle between 3 students, Kim Tan (played by Lee Min-ho), Cha Eun-sang (played by Park Shin-hye), and Choi Yeong-do (played by Kim Woo-bin), into interesting melodrama.

After a short trip to America, Cha Eun-sang found out that her mute mother works as a live-in housemaid, in Jeguk Chaebol's mansion. Meanwhile, Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) second son of the Jeguk Group, went back to Korea after his three years of study in America. Cha Eun-sang then offered a scholarship to Jeguk High, where she, later on, met Kim Tan. The conflict began as this poor girl, Cha Eun-sang, mingle with kids from rich family backgrounds.

To make this drama more complicated, Kim Tan actually engaged to Rachel Ryu (played by Kim Ji-won) who will become half siblings with Choi Yeong Do, because their parents will get married soon. There is also Kim Tan's older half-brother, Kim Won (played by Choi Jin-hyuk), who didn’t want to share their dad's company with Kim Tan.

Actress Kim Mi-kyung, who was playing Park Hee-nam, Cha Eun-sang mute mother, should get more attention because of her amazing acting in this drama. She only used sign language and a notepad to write to communicate with everyone. Sometimes funny things happen because of misunderstandings and lack of communication between Park Hee-nam and Kim Tan's mum, her boss.

Filled with star-studded casts, Heirs shows us what it means to love selflessly, no matter your background in life. Many heartwarming and funny moments fill the plot.
