Enjoy Australia Day Floating On A Giant Thong - No Bull
Nothing says Australia Day like the sun, the beach and giant inflatable thongs. Bragging rights on the Australian stage are on the line on January 26 2013 as the Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge hits Mooloolaba again.

The day has gone off in the past as hundreds of people attempt the world record for the longest line of giant inflatable Havaianas thongs joined in the water. It's a surreal sight to see but to be part of it is even more amazing. The 2012 event for the Sunshine Coast had to be cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions at the time, but that should only mean more people than ever keen to outdo our interstate rivals.

Mooloolaba is just one of the five lucky locations to host the event - Bondi Beach in New South Wales, Torquay Beach in Victoria, Glenelg Beach in South Australia and Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia round out the 'where' category. Cottesloe took out the challenge in 2012 with 2088 participants, beating out Bondi Beach's 2011 record.
Getting involved is easy to do - just head online here and for just $25 you'll receive a giant inflatable Havainas thong (worth $50). You can sign up on the day but that will cost you $30. For your karma metre, $10 of your registration fee will go to the local Nippers club at each of those beaches listed above.

Australia Day is all about being patriotic and nothing spells out 'Australia' more so than the beach, the sun, and floating on some giant inflatable thongs off one of the Sunshine Coast's best beaches.
